TRASH is an editorial that ponders about our current society’s way of consumption and promotes sustainable fashion. The concept arises for the need of creating a movement against fast fashion, a tendency of creating different collections throughout the year, in which design and manufacturing are made as fast and cheap as possible.
As a result, and due to trends changing constantly, clothing production has increased drastically during the last few years, but its durability has decreased up to 70% in some countries. This situation has led the textile industry to be the second most polluting in the world.
Therefore, the set presents a minimalistic aesthetic, focusing on the garments, which most people would consider as “trash”, but they’re shown as a starting point for creating new ones. At the same time, the outfit suggests timeless style facing new trends coming and going during the year.
Definitely, it’s a critique about current fashion trading and proposes, in a certain way, new other forms of consumption as recycling, customizing and choosing garments made by organic and ecofriendly materials.
